Mini Golf Image
Game Description

This game is based on the Mini Golf tutorial found at https://www.construct.net/en/courses/mini-golf-mobile-game-5.  I chose this tutorial because I wanted to see the recommended way to develop a game with multiple layouts / screens, and also because I have never worked with the physics system in Construct.  It was quite fun to do!

There are only two holes.  Use the aiming line to determine the angle at which your shot will go.  Press the green button to shoot.  Time your shot with the power meter to adjust the strength of your shot.  If you want to re-aim your next shot, press the red reset button.  Have fun!

Game Challenges

I didn't have too many challenges, as I mostly just followed the tutorial.

Game Unfinished Component
  • Make 18 holes.
  • Develop a "par" for each of the holes.
  • Track number of shots for the entire game, not just the current hole.
  • Add sound effects.
  • Add more mechanics to make it more like a real-life course:  slopes, tunnels, moving parts.
  • Allow the initial tee location to be chosen by the golfer, perhaps behind a line on the ground.
Game Next Steps

Any of the above options would be fun!

Game Challenges
  • Making the ball move on contact with the feet.
  • Making the ball act as a circle
  • Make the feet act in the shape of the foot
  • Creating WASD control
Game Unfinished Component

I wanted the ball's motion to continue when the feet lost contact with the ball like would happen when a real soccer ball is kicked.

I would like the feet to be allowed slightly out of bounds but not too far.

Game Next Steps

I would make the ball's motion continue after contact with the feet is lost.

Decrease the border width at the edge that prevents the ball from going to the true edge.

Having the players stop moving when holding the disk (cannot move with the disk in the real game).

Game Unfinished Component

I couldn't figure out an efficient way to have the other team score, I wanted to use a random number generator but couldn't figure it out.

Game Next Steps

Hopefully make the other team play more, and score so they game could be competitive.

Hotbox Ultimate Image
Game Description

This is a digital take on an Ultimate Frisbee game called hotbox. Your teammates will cut in and out of the box to shake their defenders. Move your player to the disc using WASD, then aim your shot with the mouse and shoot using Left click. If the disc connects with your teammate inside the box you score a point.

Game Challenges

Figuring out which movement to give each sprite was the most difficult. It was also hard finding out how to have the defense follow their marks.

Game Unfinished Component

I wanted this to be how the game plays in real life, with offense becoming defense on a turnover and vice versa. I also wanted the teammates to be able to catch the pass outside the box and pass on their own.

Game Next Steps

I would find a way to make the game more realistic in the sense that you play offense and defense and the enemy team can score, making it so there would be a way you could lose this game.
