I set out to create an engaging and challenging driving game with a top down view. I wanted a fun game that contained aspects of stop lights and intersections and steering control.

Creating the movement of the other cars, the police car to pull the player over, and adding functions to keep the car on the curvy part of the road.

Game Unfinished Component

I had hoped to create a bigger, more intricate map with more complicated interactions with other cars.

Game Next Steps

I would add more roads, more coins and a better scoring system, and change the other cars’ behavior at the 4-way intersection.

MMU CS Overview

Mount Mansfield Union High School currently offers two Computer Science courses:

AP Computer Science Principles (CSP)
Computer Science Discoveries (CSD)

Deprecated and replaced by CSD in 2019:

Introduction to Computer Science and Principles (ICS+P)

Most years, the final four to six weeks of each of these courses is spent designing and building a game. Some students work independently while others work with a partner. In the Spring of 2020 and Fall of 2021, students did not have the time to build a game because of the covid pandemic lockdown. Their final projects for class were uploaded instead, and many of these projects are not games but are still very impressive.

Many of the games were created in Scirra's Construct 2 (Windows based) or Construct 3 (web based), although some utilized Scratch or Python or another programming language. Other students choose a project in robotics or with Arduino programming, but they did not create a stand-alone program that could be placed in this accumulation of programs.
